01-14-09 Other courses using Quincy may change some settings which prevent your program's output from appearing. If this happens (i.e. your cout's don't display, go to Tools/Options and click on the Run Tab. Make sure that "No Options" is selected.
01-14-09 If your program will not compile in the computer labs because the "Compile" option is grayed out, go to Tools/Options and click on the Build Tab. Make sure that the path for the Compiler is "c:\Documents and Settings\NIU-STUDENT\Quincy2002\bin\MinGW\"
01-14-09 Information on a Windows Vista alternative to Quincy. Please go to http://www.cs.niu.edu/~abyrnes/csci240/dev.htm if you are interested. Thanks to Chris Peterlin for this information.
01-14-09 There have been reports that the portable version of Dev C++ is not working for some students. If that is the case for you, here are instructions for downloading and installing the non-portable version of Dev C++. Please go to http://www.cs.niu.edu/~abyrnes/csci240/dev2.htm if you are interested. Thanks again to Chris Peterlin for this information.
01-21-09 If you are having trouble getting Quincy to run properly on your PC, check in the following location and make sure that you have the proper path. After opening Quincy, go to "Tools" and then "Options". On the Build tab, make sure that the Path for the compiler is referencing the mingw folder. If you followed the default installation options, it should be "C:\Program Files\quincy\mingw\" If you installed Quincy to a different location on your PC, say "D:\quincy", then the path should be "D:\quincy\mingw"
01-21-09 For those of you that are using a Mac, I have talked to a few other people that have taught the 240 course as well as a few students, and the consensus is that Xcode is what many Mac users have used to write their C++ programs. It's available for free (at least that's my understanding) at: http://developer.apple.com/technology/xcode.html You have to create a free ADC membership in order to download Xcode.
08-30-09 Instructions for submitting assignments has been posted under the Course Information heading below.
10-20-09 The due date for Assignment 7 has been changed to Wednesday, October 28. The submission time is still 11:59 PM.
10-27-09 Output for program 7 can be found at http://www.cs.niu.edu/~abyrnes/csci240/pgms/output7.txt if you are interested.
